A four-lane section of Highway 101 between Falmouth and Avonport that recently underwent twinning construction has officially opened.

The at-grade intersection at Ben Jackson Road (Exit 8A) was replaced with a full grade-separated interchange near the location of the existing intersection.

The new lanes of the highway were constructed on the north side of the existing lanes. Land access for abutting landowners with existing direct access to the highway were accommodated via existing secondary roads or new parallel access roads.

TYHFSS Inc. provided multiple survey crews for construction from ground breaking to the completion of the project.

General Dynamics Canada further extended its national presence with the official opening the company’s new Maritime In-Service Support Centre of Excellence in Halifax Regional Municipality.

TYHFSS Inc. aided in the construction of this new facility providing building and parking layout.

The contract was awarded to replace the existing bridge and provide a temporary, one-lane detour bridge during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by September 2008.

Pre-construction topographic information used for the design was recorded by TYHFSS Inc. TYHFSS was also contracted to provide survey crews for the construction of the new bridge.

In the fall of 2008 NSCC opened the Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth, featuring five stories of glass, light and open space, the size of five "stacked" football fields. Designed using whole-building "green" design practices, NSCC is working toward receiving a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) designation, an international standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
